A Guitar for Michal Kryč
This guitar was built in May 2020 at the Špejchar workshop in Dobruška for my friend Michal Kryč, who had long followed my work and my journey through guitar-making studies. Michal already owned an acoustic guitar built by a classmate of mine, but when he saw the gold Telecaster owned by Petr Cvrkal, he fell in love instantly and knew he had to have his own. He named the instrument "Večernice" (The Evening Star), after the night sky that inspired its deep color.
Materials with Character
The body is crafted from aged mahogany, which Tomáš Jech acquired from an aunt in Skuhrov. The wood was completely covered in dust and was so hard it dulled our tools, but it was well worth the effort. It is lightweight and exceptionally resonant. The neck is made of Bosnian flamed maple, paired with an ebony fretboard. The body is finished with a matte nitrocellulose lacquer, while the neck is treated with oil, preserving the natural grain and providing a comfortable, organic feel during play.
Details and Hardware
The guitar is fitted with Gotoh tuners and a bridge, with a string-through body design for enhanced resonance. Unfortunately, I don't have any professional photos of the instrument, as I handed it over to Michal before I had a chance to photograph it at home. Even so, it remains in my memory as a symbol of friendship, inspiration, and the first collaboration following the "Golden Telecaster."
