Cemetery wood
The body of this guitar is crafted from a single piece of ancient chestnut that once grew in the cemetery in Pičín. I acquired it from my good friend Jakub Kohout, who lives nearby and had the opportunity to buy it when the tree was cut down. I had been wanting to try chestnut for an electric guitar body for a long time, and I am thrilled that I managed to find such a beautiful, large piece. The neck is made entirely of flamed maple, with a black veneer layer between the neck and the fretboard. Together with the ebony fret markers, this creates a subtle yet elegant contrast.
construction and sound
The guitar is equipped with pickups from the Czech maker Pavel Lokvenc, specifically a vintage set of 58'Bucker humbuckers based on the low-output Gibson P.A.F. design. Instead of standard fiberboard, an ebony veneer is used on the pickups, perfectly matching the clean, natural wood aesthetic of the instrument. The hardware is by Gotoh, and the finish features a nitrocellulose lacquer on the body and an oil finish on the neck, giving the neck a smooth, organic feel to the touch.
Exhibition Guitars
I built this guitar alongside another Jazzmaster and a Telecaster for the Kytarová Zbrojnice LIVE 2026 exhibition, where I shared a booth with pickup maker Pavel Lokvenc from Lokvenc Guitars. I started preparing the guitars back in the summer of 2025, and they were finished this May, shortly before the show.
