The First Step
This is my very first acoustic guitar, built during the first semester of my second year at the Secondary School of Art, Design, and Musical Instruments in Hradec Králové, under the guidance of instructor Ondřej Vlk. Completed in March 2016, the instrument is now ten years old. It was created at a time when I was just beginning to understand the nature of wood, the precision of the tools, and the emergence of my own signature style.
Early Support and a Living History
I built this guitar for the grandmother of my girlfriend at the time. I remain deeply grateful to her for supporting me right from the start by purchasing my very first instrument. It served her well for many years-she would take it to play with friends at the local pub, and the guitar truly lived a vibrant life. A few years ago, we symbolically traded instruments for my graduation "Number Zero" model; she was looking for something more compact, as a full-sized dreadnought isn't always the most manageable companion.
Hands-on Learning
This guitar features a solid-top construction. The solid cedar top was hand-planed at school, while the back and sides are made from ovangkol laminates. It has a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and bridge, topped off with a wenge headplate. It is equipped with a K&K Pure Mini pickup, which captures the instrument’s acoustic voice naturally, avoiding the typical "piezo" character. The hardware includes Gotoh tuners and a bone nut and saddle. Today, the guitar bears many "battle scars"-proof that it has been truly played and loved over the last decade.
